IGRT On-Board Imaging, 4D Respiratory Gating

Welcome to IGI

Image Guided Intelligence, Inc. (IGI) is an industry leader in offering on-site, image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) training for the oncologist and/or physicist. IGI physician consultants are from the world's best cancer centers and are among the first to use IMRT and IGRT technology in their respective areas of expertise. They have extensive experience in intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and have provided training to over 40 radiation oncology centers worldwide.

Our service was initiated 6 years ago to assist community practices and cancer centers with treatment of their first IMRT patients. IGI provides expertise in tumor and normal tissue contouring, dose constraints, treatment planning quality assurance, inter- and intra-fraction motion management, and extracranial radiosurgery. IGI provides on-site IGRT training to physicians as well as quality assurance of on-board imaging (OBI), respiratory gating, and immobilization. The IGI physics service includes on-site training, quality assurance, acceptance and commissioning services, and remote treatment planning.

Image Guided Intelligence (IGI) Team Offers Technique for Implanting Marker Seeds for Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)

The IGI team has developed a technique for implanting marker seeds in the prostate to allow visualization during daily treatments. The technique can be performed in the radiation oncologist's office and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Marker seeds are placed using ultrasound guidance. There have been no reported side effects associated with this technique. The IGI team has evaluated the markers using KV imaging in over 300 prostate cancer patients; seed migration has been minimal. Analysis of On-board Imaging (OBI) daily shifts has shown that by using marker seeds on a daily basis, average shifts are within 3 mm. This has important implications for IGRT and prostate cancer planning tumor volumes.

Results of OBI analysis were presented at the 2005 ASTRO meeting. See the video for an overview of the technique.

The IGI team is available for on-site instruction in marker seed implantation.
